Voucher Reminder Features

Settings

The default voucher reminder settings can be viewed or updated in the Settings > Vouchers section of Extensions.

These settings can also be updated for individual Extensions during Processing in the Delivery Options tab.

After an Extension is delivered, the reminder settings can be updated using the Reminder option in the Action menu.

  1. Click Extensions Report.
  2. Click the Action (...) menu for the extension to be edited.
  3. Click Reminder
  4. Select the Send Voucher Reminder before drop-down to choose how many days before the due date the reminder will be delivered.
  5. Click the toggle to the right of the Voucher reminder drop-down to turn reminders on or off.
  6. Click Save to apply any changes made.

Duplicate Vouchers in Extensions

Due to the varying standards of taxing authorities in different states, it's possible for SafeSend Extensions to recognize one form as both a payment voucher and an estimated voucher. In these instances, two voucher entries are created in the Filing Form tab. This results in a duplicate voucher conflict. See the Fixing a Duplicate Voucher Conflict article for steps to resolve this.

Vouchers in Returns and Extensions

The Returns program can identify if an Extension Package has previously been delivered for a specific client. Returns will look for Tax Year, SSN or EIN, and Return Type to locate any related Extension Packages that have already been delivered.

When Returns finds that an Extension was previously delivered, and the user clicks the Finish button, a pop-up box appears allowing the user to disable voucher reminders for the delivered Extension package.

This feature is to help to prevent the delivery of duplicate reminders and potential for duplicate payments.

Important

  • The pop-up box options apply to both payment and estimated payment reminders.
  • If the Extension reminders are turned off, the client will not see a Pay section when accessing the Extension, but they will when accessing the Return.
  • Reminders will still be enabled for the return if the setting is enabled in the Delivery Options tab.
  • Click No to leave the voucher notifications enabled for the Extension.
  • Click Yes, turn it off to disable voucher notifications for the Extension.
